Mike Bets #78
4 min readThere isn’t a whole lot of action today. I have a few picks though. Let’s keep the hot streak going.
College Basketball Record: 195-190-3 on individual bets, 7-42 on parlays, +$45.00
All Involved CBB Picks: 263-244-6 ATS, 20-28 Dog MLs
NBA Record: 9-13, 0-4 on parlays, -$139
Joint Parlays: 0-2, -$25
$22 for spread picks, $20 for ML
- Duquesne v. George Washington (+8)
George Washington has suffered five of their seven losses by 7 or less points. They were close in the first game of this double header yesterday. Today, they get the job done and cover.
- Michigan (-9) v. Northwestern
Go Blue. Michigan will push it to 4-0 in Big Ten play against a Cats team coming off a double-digit loss to Iowa.
- Trail Blazers (-4.5) v. Warriors
The Warriors just stink. The Blazers won this game by 25 two days ago. They win it again by more than 5 here.
- Lakers v. Grizzlies (+9.5)
This is a huge line. The Grizzlies are young and feisty, even without Ja Morant. They’ll keep the Lakers close.
- Nets v. Wizards (+7.5)
The Nets are just 1-3 in their last four after the dominant two-game start. They need time to gel, and a Wizards team desperate for wins stays close.
- Jazz v. Spurs (+160)
I like the Spurs here. They’ve lose three in a row and will be fighting hard to end that. Utah is playing their third game in four days and hasn’t been great so far.
- NBA PARLAY – $50 to win $64
Celtics, Nuggets, Mavs MLs
GAMES TO KEEP AN EYE ON
- Colgate v. Army
Colgate began their quest to defend their Patriot League title with a bang yesterday, beating Army by 44. Can they do it again? Or will an Army team that looked decent in a five-game non conference run respond with a stronger effort? Keep an eye on this one because if Colgate is capable of dominating back-to-backs out of the gate, the conference is very clearly theirs to lose.
- Navy v. Bucknell
Navy picked up a nice 78-69 win over Bucknell last time out. Keep an eye on their ability to do it again. If they want to be one of the better teams in the conference, they will need to win games like this.
- Missouri St v. Indiana State
Missouri State moved to 5-1 with a 10-point win over Indiana State yesterday. If that start is significant for conference hopes, they’ll need to start proving they can sweep these mini series, something they couldn’t do against Northern Iowa last week. Keep an eye on how they do with that here.
- Rhode Island v. St Joes
Keep an eye on Rhode Island here. This is quite simply a game they need to win for their tourney hopes. St Joes is 0-6 and not good. Rhode Island has a tournament-like resume, but they likely won’t be able to take many losses like this.
- Ohio State v. Minnesota
This is a huge Big Ten game. Ohio State is 8-2 with their two losses coming in conference. They have big wins over Rutgers and UCLA in the last few weeks and absolutely rolled Nebraska last time out. They also have recent losses to Purdue and Northwestern. Minnesota is 9-2 with wins over St Louis, Iowa, and Michigan State, but they’ve also been handled easily by both Illinois and Wisconsin. Which versions of these teams show up today? Keep an eye on what should be a good and interesting game.
- Wake Forest v. Georgia Tech
Wake Forest hasn’t played anyone on the way to a 3-0 start. Georgia Tech is 5-3 with impressive wins over North Carolina, Nebraska, and Kentucky. They also lost to Mercer and Georgia State back at the start of the season. Both of these teams are likely below the level of tournament quality. Still, never a bad idea to keep an eye on them.
- Drake v. Southern Illinois
Can Drake (11-0) absolutely crush a 7-1 Southern Illinois team that just lost by 12 to Evansville after only beating them by 6 in the first game of the series? Or will Southern Illinois, with wins over Butler, Murray State, and North Dakota, show that the series with Evansville was an aberration? Keep an eye on this one. I love Drake, but I don’t love the -10 line here given that Southern Illinois is so tough to figure out.
- Houston v. SMU
Is Houston really a top-ten worthy team and the class of the AAC? If they are, they’ll bounce back from the one-point loss to Tulsa with a win here. Keep an eye on SMU. They’re 6-0, but the best win is a very close one over Dayton. Can they prove themselves today?
